Basics of an ICBC claim
- As of April 1st 2019, ICBC will automatically cover 12 treatments within 12 weeks of injury regardless of fault.
- These 12 treatments consist of 1 initial appointment and 11 subsequent appointments.
- ICBC will pay $112.34 for an initial appointment and $84 for a subsequent.
- If you require treatment beyond this coverage your practitioner(s) can apply for an extension with ICBC.
Who bills to ICBC?
Only certain practitioners are signed up to direct bill to ICBC. If you book one of our preset ICBC appointments then you will automatically be paired with a practitioner who bills direct for ICBC treatments. Another option is to look on a practitioners profile to check if they are set up with ICBC.
Booking our ICBC appointments
At our clinic there are two types of ICBC appointments to choose from; an initial 60 minute appointment, and a subsequent 45 minute appointment.
Initial appointments are the first RMT treatment using that claim #. ICBC only pays for an initial appointment once for each claim; which means that if you've already used the initial appointment at another clinic you will need to book a subsequent ICBC appointment with us to avoid paying extra.
No Shows and late cancellations
ICBC does not cover no show or late cancellation fees. If there is an outstanding balance on your account, the clinic reserves the right to cancel future appointments until the full amount owing has been paid.
The Intake Process
When you arrive for your first appointment you will be required to fill out an ICBC specific intake form; you will need to have your ICBC claim # with you at this time. This is not the same as our online RMT intake form, although if you've already filled out the generic RMT intake you will be given a streamlined ICBC intake that takes less time for you to fill out.
It is recommended that you show up a minimum of
15 minutes early for your first ICBC massage treatment.
Although having a doctor referral is not typically needed for the original 12 appointments, you will need to acquire one if you wish to apply for an extension.
Can I book other appointment lengths?
Our preset ICBC appointments are meant to prevent patients from booking treatments that cost beyond what ICBC covers. If you wish to book a longer treatment you can still use ICBC direct billing, but the additional cost will be at the patient's own expense and will not be reimbursed.
Not a guarantee..
Direct billing to ICBC is a courtesy service and claims are not guaranteed to be approved or paid by ICBC. It is the patient's responsibility to pay for all unpaid treatments should direct billing problems occur.
